What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Operations Specialist (Manufacturing) position at STEM Search Group?
Inventory Operations Specialist (Manufacturing)
If you’re an inventory & supply chain professional who enjoys digging into discrepancies, improving processes, and creating more efficient inventory operations, this role gives you the opportunity to do exactly that.
You’ll help bring structure to how inventory is tracked, stored, and understood across the operation. From the floor to the data, you’ll connect what’s happening physically with what’s showing up in the system and help close the gaps.
If you like solving problems, digging into data, and actually seeing the impact of your work on a production floor, this is a role where you can make a difference quickly.
What You’ll Do
• Analyze inventory data to identify discrepancies, losses, and opportunities to improve accuracy and flow
• Investigate root causes of inventory variances and implement corrective actions
• Support cycle counting processes and ensure alignment between physical and system inventory
• Track slow-moving and aged inventory, partnering with operations and sales on disposition decisions
• Help establish and maintain standard processes for inventory control, storage, and material flow
• Spend time on the production floor and in the warehouse to understand inventory challenges and validate data
• Audit FIFO practices and work with the warehouse team to improve consistency and compliance
• Build and maintain reports, KPIs, and dashboards to provide visibility into inventory performance
• Collaborate with planning, operations, and materials teams to prevent shortages and disruptions
• Contribute to broader supply chain and process improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
• 3 years of experience in inventory, materials, or supply chain in a manufacturing environment (required)
• Strong Excel and data analysis skills, with the ability to pull and connect information from multiple systems
• Ability to identify problems, dig into root causes, and drive solutions instead of just reporting issues
• Experience must be tied to manufacturing processes, production, WIP, etc. Experience limited to distribution centers or 3PL operations would not be a fit.
• Comfortable being hands-on, including time spent on the floor understanding inventory and material flow
• Self-directed and proactive, someone who takes initiative and keeps things moving
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations, planning, and warehouse teams
• ERP/MRP system exposure; warehouse system experience is a plus
• Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred
This is a full-time, onsite position. Remote or hybrid work is not available. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship or third-party (C2C) arrangements.
Salary : $80,000 - $90,000
