What you’ll do…
- Lead the engineering function for a precision remanufacturing operation focused on diesel/gasoline fuel injectors, high-pressure pumps, and critical fuel system components.
- Oversee a team of engineers and technicians responsible for teardown, inspection, salvage, reconditioning, assembly, and final calibration of high-pressure fuel system hardware.
- Develop and refine remanufacturing processes, including repair strategies, reuse criteria, machining/cleaning standards, and validation methods that ensure “like-new” performance.
- Partner cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain to resolve technical issues affecting flow, throughput, or product performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data, Lean methodology, and structured problem-solving to improve yield, reduce variation, and enhance process capability.
- Lead root cause analysis for internal failures and field returns, converting insights into durable corrective actions and better salvage strategies.
- Author, maintain, and uphold engineering documentation including PFMEAs, control plans, test requirements, and quality-critical procedures.
- Support equipment upgrades, capital planning, and implementation of new technologies that increase precision, efficiency, and technical capability.
- Ensure all remanufactured components meet stringent performance standards through rigorous flow testing, leakage checks, and high-pressure calibration.
What we’re looking for…
- 10 years in automotive, diesel engine, or heavy-equipment manufacturing environments involving precision fuel-system components.
- Must have direct experience with fuel system components: diesel injectors, high-pressure pumps, common-rail systems, GDI hardware, or equivalent high-pressure fluid-delivery technologies.
- Background in remanufacturing, rebuild, teardown/inspection, or reverse-engineering highly preferred, but strong new-production fuel system experience will also be considered.
- Hands-on understanding of precision assembly, flow/pressure testing, calibration methods, SPC, and validation of micron-level components.
- Demonstrated success leading engineers or technical teams while driving measurable improvements in process control, capability, and cost.
- Solid working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, PFMEA, structured problem-solving (A3, DMAIC, 5-Why), and standard work development.
- Proficiency with CAD, ERP/MRP systems, and data-driven engineering decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
