STEM Genius is seeking a dedicated, prompt, and energetic
STEM Classroom Paraprofessional
to support our educators and students. In this role, you will be an essential part of the classroom ecosystem, handling vital administrative logistics, helping facilitate hands-on STEM projects, and ensuring a safe, organized, and focused learning environment.
The ideal candidate is a proactive team player who thrives in a dynamic educational setting, possesses strong classroom management instincts, and is excited to engage with families during community and school events.
Key Responsibilities
1. Administrative & Logistics Support
- Maintain accurate daily records, including student attendance and participation logs.
- Organize, prepare, and distribute instructional materials, worksheets, and project kits.
- Assist with classroom setup and breakdown, which includes occasional lifting and moving of furniture (tables, chairs, equipment) to optimize the learning space for specific STEM activities.
2. Instructional & Project Assistance
- Provide hands-on support to students during collaborative STEM projects, experiments, and building activities.
- Help guide students through instructions to ensure safety and project completion.
- Serve as an energetic and supportive chaperone during off-site educational field trips.
3. Event & Parent Engagement Support
- Assist with evening parent-teacher conferences, including welcoming families, managing check-in sheets, and guiding parents to the correct meeting areas.
- Help prepare student work showcases, portfolios, or STEM project displays ahead of family night events.
- Provide general administrative and hospitality support during evening community and organizational gatherings.
4. Classroom Environment
- Support the lead educator in maintaining positive behavioral expectations and a focused learning atmosphere.
- Monitor student safety during transitions, project work, and clean-up periods.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Reliability & Schedule: Must be exceptionally prompt, dependable, and consistently available to work the designated daily hours of 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Flexibility: Willingness and availability to work occasional evening hours as scheduled in advance for parent-teacher conferences and family engagement events.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to assist with physical tasks, including lifting and rearranging classroom furniture or moving heavy bins of project supplies.
- Clearances: Must be willing to undergo and successfully pass a comprehensive background check prior to employment.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with instructors, students, and parents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a teaching, tutoring, or assistant capacity within an educational or youth-development setting.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills and the ability to confidently engage and redirect groups of students.
- A general interest in or passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education.
