Role : Systems Analyst (Cobol/ Db2/JCL)

Location: Pasadena, CA -- _hybrid -once a week

Job: long term -Contract

Responsibilities and Requirements

• Strong understanding of COBOL programs, DB2 batch processing, and JCL job flows, including dependencies and restart logic.
• Ability to analyze legacy code and batch workflows and produce clear design specifications for development teams.
• Create process flows and design visualizations to support system conversion and enhancement initiatives.
• Experience supporting Mainframe Migration, converting Mainframe batch systems to Java-based platforms (Spring / Spring Batch).
• Experience using AI tools (e.g., Copilot or similar) to assist with design documentation, analysis, visualization, and productivity.
• Experience in testing and validation, including:
  • Creating test scripts and test data
  • Executing batch jobs across legacy and modern platforms
  • Comparing database results by running SQL queries to validate functional accuracy
  • Experience using AI tools for test result comparison is a plus
• Participate in and contribute to design and review sessions with developers, architects, and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of ETL processing, data pipelines, and dashboard / BI visual design is desirable.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field, -AND- Five (5) years of progressively responsible, full-time, paid experience in a centralized Information Technology organization, performing information systems analysis and design, application development, network administration or operating systems analysis
• Expert proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and analysis is required
• Strong expertise in data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau is preferred
• Experience with mainframe software tools, such as TSO, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS, or MQ is required
• Experience in AI-assisted analysis and documentation tools is preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills is required
• Knowledge of business processes and best practices in various domains is required
• Attention to detail and accuracy is required
• Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL, and cloud platforms such as Azure is preferred.
