Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on commercial HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, boilers, and refrigeration equipment.
- Diagnose system issues using schematics, electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters, and mechanical troubleshooting techniques.
- Install new HVAC equipment following design specifications and schematics; assist with system upgrades and modifications.
- Repair and maintain refrigeration systems such as ammonia refrigeration units and HVAC/R equipment.
- Conduct plumbing work related to HVAC systems when necessary, including pipe repairs and component replacements.
- Utilize welding skills for custom fabrication or repair of system components.
- Read and interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design documents to ensure proper installation and service procedures.
- Maintain detailed service reports and documentation of work performed.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and local codes; identify potential safety hazards during field service operations.
- Assist with property maintenance tasks related to HVAC systems as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician in HVAC, refrigeration, or related mechanical fields; construction or property maintenance experience is a plus.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Experience with HVAC design principles, appliance repair, boiler operation, ammonia refrigeration, and air conditioning systems.
- Skilled in plumbing, welding, equipment repair, and general maintenance tasks.
- Familiarity with electrical testing tools such as ohmmeters; ability to read electrical schematics is essential.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
- Ability to work independently in the field under varying conditions; excellent problem-solving skills are essential.
- Relevant certifications or licenses in HVAC/R or refrigeration are highly desirable; mechanic experience is advantageous.
