Responsibilities
- Create CAD models and engineering drawings of products and tools with dimension schemes using GD&T.
- Collaborate with engineering team to develop new products to design specifications, industry and military standards, design for manufacturing concepts, and continuous improvement objectives.
- Independently design tooling solutions for the efficient manufacture of traveling wave tubes and electronics.
- Lead assigned design projects by proactively collecting required information and using sound judgment to make decisions with minimal oversight.
- Make drawing/model changes authorized by Engineering Change Notices.
- Check the accuracy of other mechanical designer’s work.
- Associate’s degree and a minimum of 8 years relevant experience, OR bachelor’s degree and minimum 6 years relevant experience, OR graduate degree and a minimum of 4 years relevant experience. Additional years of relevant experience may be used in lieu of education.
- Advanced experience with enterprise level CAD software (e.g., Creo, Siemens NX, CATIA).
- Proficient in the use of GD&T to layout dimension schemes, including but not limited to thoughtful datum feature application, hole pattern true positions with modifiers, MMB, runout, flatness, profile and parallelism applications.
- Strong ability to use Microsoft Office products.
- Strong ability to communicate and articulate design concepts both verbally and in presentations and emails.
- Creo and Windchill experience preferred.
- Familiarity with traveling wave tubes or vacuum tube technology.
- Familiarity with space design standards and design for manufacturing.
- Senior level checker experience.
