FLEX/PRN Medical Coder
Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:
With limited supervision, the Medical Coder audits cases in homecare and hospice to ensure accuracy of diagnostic coding and compliance with State and Federal regulations and adherence with all policies.
- Thoroughly examine patient records, including physician's notes, lab reports, and other documentation, to extract relevant information for coding purposes.
- Accurately assign appropriate codesto diagnoses, procedures, and services based on established coding guidelines and regulations
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in coding and ensure adherence to all relevant coding guidelines, regulations, and payer-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with the care team to clarify documentation and obtain necessary information for accurate coding
- Keep abreast of changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements through ongoing education and training.
- Reports trends and identified issues to the QA manager and/or Senior Administrator
- Other duties within scope of job functions as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum two (2) years experience
