FLEX/PRN Medical Coder

JOB SUMMARY:

With limited supervision, the Medical Coder audits cases in homecare and hospice to ensure accuracy of diagnostic coding and compliance with State and Federal regulations and adherence with all policies.

• Thoroughly examine patient records, including physician's notes, lab reports, and other documentation, to extract relevant information for coding purposes.
• Accurately assign appropriate codesto diagnoses, procedures, and services based on established coding guidelines and regulations
• Maintain a high level of accuracy in coding and ensure adherence to all relevant coding guidelines, regulations, and payer-specific requirements.
• Collaborate with the care team to clarify documentation and obtain necessary information for accurate coding
• Keep abreast of changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and payer requirements through ongoing education and training.
• Reports trends and identified issues to the QA manager and/or Senior Administrator
• Other duties within scope of job functions as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum two (2) years experience
