Steinkraus Plumbing is a family-owned plumbing company founded in 1982 and specializes in commercial/industrial projects. We perform a wide array of commercial projects including restaurants, daycares, dental clinics, and car dealerships. We also work on large industrial shell buildings with tenant build-outs that can include process piping or medical gas piping. We pride ourselves on hard work, innovation, and problem-solving skills to deliver projects on time and within budget.




Summary

This is a full-time, in-person, office position that requires availability via phone and email from early morning to early evening as needed. You will be responsible for estimating commercial plumbing projects and managing those projects from contract award through closeout. This includes budgeting, material procurement, subcontractor coordination, schedule management, and financial oversight.

This position requires the ability to think strategically, anticipate challenges before they arise, and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. The goal is to accurately bid profitable work, maintain strong relationships with general contractors, and deliver projects that meet or exceed budget expectations. Training and oversight to be performed by the company president and senior leadership team.




Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for commercial plumbing projects by reviewing plans, specifications, and addenda. Perform detailed material takeoffs, labor projections, and equipment pricing to ensure complete and thorough bids.


• Communicate with general contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors during the bidding process to clarify scope, confirm pricing, and ensure alignment with project requirements.


• Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as necessary to fully understand project scope and site conditions.


• Develop and manage project budgets upon award. Track labor hours, material costs, equipment usage, and subcontractor expenses to maintain profitability.


• Review contracts, identify scope gaps or exclusions, and ensure alignment between estimate and executed agreement.


• Manage project schedules in coordination with the internal scheduling team and general contractors. Forecast manpower needs and communicate anticipated workload to leadership.


• Process and price change orders in a timely manner. Identify additional work opportunities and ensure proper documentation before work proceeds.


• Conduct regular communication with field foremen to monitor job progress, address challenges, and ensure alignment with project budget and timeline.


• Maintain strong relationships with general contractor project managers and superintendents to promote repeat business and long-term partnerships.


• Oversee project closeout process including punch lists, final billing, lien waivers, and warranty documentation.


• Assist in long-term strategic planning by identifying market trends, upcoming bid opportunities, and areas for company growth.



 

Qualifications

• 5 years of commercial plumbing experience (field experience strongly preferred)

• 3 years of estimating and/or project management experience in commercial construction

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

• Experience with estimating software preferred

• Ability to read and interpret commercial plumbing plans and specifications

• Strong understanding of plumbing systems, materials, and installation methods

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Strong financial awareness and ability to track budgets and profitability

• Must have a positive attitude and strong leadership presence

• Must be reliable and take ownership of job responsibilities



 

Compensation and Benefits

• $110,000 – $150,000 per year (based on experience and performance)

• Annual bonus based on profitability and performance

• Fully paid medical and dental benefits for employee

• 50% paid medical and dental benefits for employee’s dependents
