Description

Steindler Orthopedic is seeking a professional, enthusiastic, and energetic Patient Services Representative to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) team.


This position plays an important role in creating a positive experience for patients and their families before and during their surgical visit. The Patient Services Representative serves as a key liaison between patients, families, and the surgical team, ensuring patients are welcomed, properly registered, and prepared for their procedure.


The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, compassionate, and customer-service focused, with the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Previous experience in a healthcare or medical setting is preferred.

This is a part-time position working 4-6 hours per day, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Welcome and greet patients and their families upon arrival at the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
  • Complete patient registration and verify demographic, insurance, and other required information.
  • Ensure patients feel welcomed, informed, and cared for throughout the registration process.
  • Prepare patient charts and ensure all required documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Verify patient information with the patient and make corrections as needed.
  • Provide patients with required information, including the Patient Bill of Rights.
  • Obtain required signatures and consent forms and ensure documentation is properly maintained.
  • Maintain patient medical records in accordance with established procedures and confidentiality requirements.
  • Prepare and compile charts for upcoming surgical procedures.
  • Prepare documents and superbills for distribution to the appropriate personnel.
  • Apply patient identification armbands and assist patients with the check-in process.
  • Direct family members to the appropriate waiting areas and provide assistance as needed.
  • Assist patients with transitioning to clinical areas or rooms as appropriate.
  • Maintain awareness of the daily surgical schedule and the progression of procedures to ensure patients are prepared and moved through the process in a timely manner.
  • Answer incoming calls, take messages, and assist with chart completion and other front-desk responsibilities.
  • Assist with stocking and maintaining supplies within the facility.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, coworkers, and clinical staff.
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous healthcare, medical office, or ambulatory surgery experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, friendly, and compassionate approach when interacting with patients and families.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform detailed work accurately and efficiently.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office or other required software.
  • Ability to learn and utilize electronic medical record and registration systems.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
