We're seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Mt. Pleasant, IA team. In this role, you'll serve as a key player in the financial execution of auctions, ensuring accurate settlements, timely payments, and seamless accounting processes from start to finish. What You'll Do
As a Staff Accountant, you'll help ensure the financial side of our auctions runs smoothly and accurately by:
- Managing auction accounting activities from start to finish, including deposits, settlements, expense allocation, reconciliations, and job-cost tracking
- Preparing and processing customer invoices while ensuring proper handling of tax exemptions and supporting documentation
- Recording and reconciling banking activity, including deposits, checks, electronic payments, and account transactions
- Conducting lien searches, reviewing secured interests, and communicating professionally with lienholders to obtain payoff information and support the accurate distribution of auction proceeds
- Performing day-to-day general ledger activities, including journal entries, adjustments, and account maintenance
- Ensuring financial records accurately reflect business operations and provide transparency across all transactions
- Supporting customers by answering questions related to auctions, payments, invoices, and settlements
- Organizing, maintaining, and archiving financial records in both digital and physical formats
- Collaborating with auction, operations, and accounting teams to support successful events and positive client outcomes
- Managing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Occasionally traveling to live auction events to provide on-site accounting support

Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent related experience
- 3-5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience preferred, but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems is a plus
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment
