What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pattern Maintenance position at Steeltech LLC?
Scope of Position:
Responsible for preparing all patterns for production per company procedures. Also responsible for building the custom shipping skids and performing minor maintenance to the patterns. Must be able to; work using required safety equipment, keep a clean and organized work area, communicate effectively, work all mandatory overtime, and perform duties in a positive and team-like manner.
Machinery operating requirements:
Fork truck, personal lift, paint sprayers, radial arm saw, table saw, pneumatic nail gun, band saw, Bridgeport mill, wood lathe, disc/belt sander, hand power tools, and electronic scale.
Trainee – Pattern Attendant
· Must demonstrate good work habits (starts on time, returns from break on time, etc.).
· Must be able to perform duties at C Level within 90 days.
Step C Position Requirements
- Employees must demonstrate good daily work habits (starts on time, returns from break on time, etc.)
- Must possess good reading and writing skills and demonstrate the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Maintain a positive attitude and work cooperatively with fellow co-workers, must be a team player.
- Possess the physical ability to lift (up to 50lbs) with frequent bending with manual dexterity, Arual Acuity.
- Adaptable to environmental and safety requirements, able to wear all required safety equipment including respirators.
- Accurately fill out daily time sheets, Pattern Sheets and work orders with risers and Kalminex.
- Employee must be able to perform daily equipment start up inspections and operate the equipment safely on a daily basis.
- Understand Steeltech Part Numbering System and successfully find and return patterns from pattern warehouse.
- Gain a hi-lo license and operate a hi-lo safely in all areas of the plant.
- Understand basic molding terminology (cope, drag, cores, sprue, ingate, runner, risers and sleeves).
- Able to set up Patterns per “pattern file sheet” and or "Bill of Material.”
- Must be able to operate wood working equipment.
- Must be able to construct mold boxes, basic gating and risering, and build skids for shipping.
- Must be able to repair patterns and core boxes with precision.
- Must maintain the Pattern Warehouse in a clean and organized manner.
- Responsible for bringing patterns back and forth from warehouse and fill out paperwork
Step B Position Requirements – Selective Position to be filled only as required.
- Perform all of requirements of Step C Pattern Maintenance Tech and Step C Mold Technician.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Demonstrate ability to read blueprints, add and subtract fractions and pass company test.
- Able to check pattern dimensions, replace/add shift pins in core boxes, and put non-shifts in patterns (increase size). (Supervisor must sign off).
- Able to place requisitions for materials needed monthly (ex: pattern letters, lok-in letters, wood).
Step A Requirements – Selective Position to be filled only as required
- Perform all requirements of Step B Pattern Maintenance Tech.
- Able to make minor repairs and revisions to patterns (ex: replace risers, sprues and gating), and build simple patterns, core boxes, and wood flasks. (Supervisor must sign off).
- Able to use plastics (Tuf-Carv/bondo) to repair broken or damaged patterns. (Supervisor must sign off).
- Assist Materials Coordinator with receiving and processing of scrap shipments when necessary.
