POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Scheduling Coordinator applies suitable inventory to customer orders, concentrating on utilizing inventory as profitably as possible.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures customer satisfaction, maximizes inventory turns, and profitability in the application of inventory to open sales orders
- Authorizes the conversion, re-handling, or inspection of specific inventory items, and generates production jobs accordingly
- Ensures the accuracy of all inventory tags prior to generating production jobs
- Reviews material on “To Be Charted” hold for rework/reapplication, planning the reapplication as needed or updating the inventory status if rework/reapplication is not possible
- Work as a liaison between Sales and Operations, ensuring that both departments understand the customer’s needs and that the customer’s needs are being met, including prioritization of production jobs and schedule considering plant capacity

Works with and assists Production Manager, Inside Sales Managers and Production Supervisors in optimizing schedules for set-up and productivity
- Aids Plant Manager, Sales, and Materials Management in identifying aged, distressed, or unusable inventory items for prompt disposition
- Participates and contributes during team meetings with Sales, Operations, and Transportation
- As required by specific customer supply chain and program business, notifies Sales, Materials Management, and Purchasing of material shortages
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
High school education or GED required. Team member must have the ability to work efficiently in an office environment. Team member must also be able to effectively communicate with others and work well in a team environment.
EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS:
This person must be able to use a telephone, computer, and calculator.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The primary worksite is in the office. Depending on the specific location, accessibility may vary: most worksites are single-level and accessible directly from the parking lot, while others are situated in multi-level office buildings. All locations are climate controlled. Plant "tours" are necessary to stay informed on inventory levels and material flow. Within the plant, there are seasonal variations in temperatures from 60 to 95 degrees; some exposure to diesel fumes as trucks move through the plant; noise level varies depending on number of machines in operation. Potential hazards include cuts and crush injuries.
SUPERVISION AND CO-WORKERS/ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Team assistance available at all times. Unscheduled absences may result in failure to meet customer requirements due to insufficient staffing.
CONSEQUENCES IF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS NOT PERFORMED
Failure to observe safety procedures while in the plant may result in serious injury up to fatality and/or damage and loss of material or property.
This position is a key profit center. Failure to identify and chart the proper material will result in customer rejects, which may in turn result in the loss of business.
Failure to utilize material appropriately will result in loss of profitability due to customer rejects, production delays, or excessive scrap.
Failure to move material in a timely manner may result in production delays or customer delivery delays, which may result in the loss of business.
Failure to complete appropriate paperwork may result in an inventory shortage through loss of material or improper billing of the customer.
