Position Overview: Steelhead Metal Corp is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team. This role is primarily focused on 3-axis machining, with 5-axis experience considered a strong plus. We are seeking someone who takes pride in producing high-quality precision parts, works well in a team environment, and is comfortable in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Large format mill experience also a plus.

Schedule
This will typically be a Monday through Friday role, working 40-50 hours a week on a day shift. The hours vary as needed to meet project deadlines. There is opportunity for overtime.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC mills to produce precision machined parts
- Perform machine setups including tooling, fixtures, offsets, and workholding
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Inspect parts using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and indicators
- Make offset adjustments and monitor part quality during production
- Troubleshoot basic machining and dimensional issues
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow safety and quality standards
- Work with supervisors, programmers, and quality personnel to keep jobs moving efficiently
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of CNC machining experience
- Experience with 3-axis CNC machining
- Ability to read blueprints and understand part dimensions/tolerances
- Experience using common inspection tools
- Understanding of machine offsets, tooling, and setups
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-axis machining experience
- Experience in a job shop environment
- Ability to make minor program edits at the machine
- Familiarity with machining aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Experience with first article and in-process inspections

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy objects as required - 50 lbs.

- Willingness to work in a machine shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machining lubricants.
