What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Automation Engineer position at Steelgate LLC?
The primary responsibility of the Network Automation Engineer is to support the development and implementation of a network infrastructure interconnecting several datacenters and virtual infrastructures. The position requires experience with deploying VLANs on both physical network devices and virtualized network devices supporting VMware ESXi. The Network Automation Engineer must also be familiar with and able to configure network security devices such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network taps to name a few. The position requires familiarity with Ansible and Terraform to apply configuration through automation. The position requires the ability to convey technical and operational concepts orally and in written formats to support technical discussions with engineering staff. The Network Automation Engineer will regularly: collaborate with team members consisting of support engineers and developers to produce creative solution; participate in design discussions; and provide regular updates during technical meetings.
Requirements:
- DoD Top Secret Clearance
- CCNA or equivalent
- 10 years of experience with a Masters, 12 years with a Bachelors, or 16 years with a high school diploma, in network infrastructure, engineering, and operations
- Knowledge of interpreting architectures and frameworks for network infrastructure and services
- Demonstrated knowledge of network security engineering and concepts
- Demonstrated knowledge of network security devices, software, and services
- Demonstrated knowledge of next-generation firewall concepts and security best practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of Load Balancing concepts and methodologies
- Excellent documentation skills including experience creating and maintaining network diagrams
- Demonstrated knowledge with TCP/IP protocols including capturing and analyzing traffic with Wireshark and/or other tools
- Maintains in-depth up-to-date knowledge of standards and best practices in networking and network protocols
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto, Mellanox, Juniper, and Cisco network devices
- Knowledge information assurance procedures and implementation of technologies to address security controls
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues at all layers
- Ability to work well independently and with a team
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated work history showing progressive growth and/or responsibility
- Experience working with Ansible
- Experience programming in Python
Preferred qualifications:
- B.S. Information Systems, or Information Technology, and/or combination of education and work experience equivalent
- Experience working with AWS, Azure, OpenStack, or another cloud orchestration platform
- ITILv3 Foundations or higher
- CISSP, GSEC, GSNA, CEH or similar certification desirable
- Experience managing and operating cloud orchestration platform(s)
- Linux/Unix networking knowledge strongly desired
- Familiarity with Army DCO mission network
- Experience with network monitoring applications such as Splunk, ArcSight, Logzilla, or Elastic
