Quality Leader – Laser Operations

As the Quality Leader for Laser Operations, you will serve as the primary quality resource for the department, influencing decisions that shape product quality, process capability, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance

• Maintain and enhance quality systems aligned with ISO 9001 and company standards.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Maintain document control systems, including SOPs, controlled forms, and quality documentation.

Quality Control

• Lead PPAP documentation preparation and submissions for new parts.

· Utilize a Keyence WM-6000 CMM to inspect parts. Experience with Zeiss Calypso, Verisurf, Cam2, or PolyWorks is applicable knowledge.

• Ensure proper use of measurement tools and equipment.
• Train personnel on measurement techniques and interpretation of results.
• Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements to validate product conformity.
• Maintain the calibration system for all tools in the fabrication department.

Customer & Supplier Engagement

• Assist in internal management of customer concerns, supplier issues, and external claims.
• Lead or support corrective action activities using structured problem‑solving tools.
• Collaborate with internal teammates to ensure external customers’ expectations are met and exceeded.

Operational Support & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor quality performance and identify & implement improvement opportunities.
• Support development and maintenance of control plans, FMEAs, and APQP documentation.
• Track and report KPIs, including COQ metrics, internal rejects, and external returns.
• Participate in initiatives focused on reducing scrap, improving process stability, and enhancing product quality.

Training & Leadership

• Provide training, coaching, and support to production and quality personnel.
• Assist with onboarding and skill development within the Quality Department.
• Promote a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement.

Other Duties

• Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support departmental and organizational goals.

Qualifications & Competencies:

Required

• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with ERP systems.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Manufacturing quality experience or a related technical degree.
• Strong proficiency with handheld gauges and portable CMM equipment/software.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

Preferred

• Experience supporting CNC laser or metal fabrication processes.
• Background in ISO 9001 systems or internal auditing.
• Experience with APQP, PPAP, 8D, 5‑Why, Fishbone, FMEA, and control plans.
• Solid understanding of statistical methods and data analysis.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to navigate and work within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift 25lbs on occasion.

Additional Information

• Salary based on knowledge and experience.
• Occasional regional travel (up to ~25%).

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
