What You’ll Tackle

• Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical specs to define tooling requirements.
• Build and finish tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and specialized equipment using CNC/manual mills and lathes, grinders, and hand tools.
• Set up and operate CNC and manual equipment to hold tight tolerances.
• Validate parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMMs, and related instruments.
• Restore worn or failed tooling to production-ready condition through effective diagnosis and repair.
• Plan machining sequences, setups, and methods that balance speed with precision.
• Support continuous improvement through problem-solving, Kaizen, and root-cause analysis.
• Keep documentation current—update setup sheets and communicate tooling changes to engineering and production.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and 5S-compliant workspace.
  
  

Work environment: repetitive tasks with few breaks; ability to lift 50 lbs required.

Qualifications

• Strong CNC and manual machining background with sound mechanical aptitude (fits, tolerances, mechanisms).
• Comfort reading CAD drawings; CAM experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with precision metrology tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot tooling issues and present practical solutions.
• High attention to detail; consistent workmanship.
• Clear communicator across engineering, machining, and production teams.
• Tool & Die apprenticeship, Journeyman certification, or equivalent experience is a plus.
• 3–5 years in a tool room or precision machining setting preferred.
