Precision CNC Manufacturing Specialist

Help build flight‑critical components at Steel Tool & Engineering Co., an AS9100‑certified, NADCAP‑accredited leader in Aerospace Precision Machining & Fabrication.

Where: Trenton, MI & Taylor, MI | Schedule: Full-time, Hourly

Compensation: $19.25–$24.00 per hour (experience‑based) | Shifts: 6:00 am–4:30 pm; 12:00 pm–10:30 pm; 3:30 pm–2:00 am with $1.00/hr night premium

Transform raw stock into precision aerospace hardware. You’ll own your setups, programming, and process control on CNC lathes, mills, and advanced 5‑axis machining centers—ensuring every part meets strict tolerance and quality requirements.

• Set up and operate CNC horizontal lathes, VTLs, mills, and 5‑axis platforms for production and prototypes.
• Program and edit with Mastercam; refine G‑code and apply best‑practice toolpaths.
• Load materials, configure machine parameters, establish work/tool offsets, and execute efficient machining operations.
• Detect non‑conforming conditions and implement corrective actions to protect quality and delivery.
• Leverage CMM data; apply accurate tool wear offsets directly at the controller.
• Design and fabricate simple tooling, fixtures, and custom jaws to stabilize processes.
• Interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings; hold tight aerospace tolerances.
• Troubleshoot program issues, tool wear, and machining anomalies quickly.
• Perform routine maintenance; maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Collaborate closely with supervisors; support peers and mentor junior operators.
• Consistently meet targets for productivity, quality, safety, attendance, and reliability.

• Proficiency in CNC machine setup, operation, and in‑process adjustments.
• Hands‑on Mastercam programming and program editing experience.
• Strong knowledge of G‑code and CNC troubleshooting.
• Measurement expertise with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
• Experience machining aerospace‑grade materials and sheet metal components.
• Mechanical aptitude and disciplined problem solving.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Skilled communicator with the ability to mentor junior colleagues.
