A day in this role

At 6:00 a.m., you step onto the manufacturing floor and into your quality zone. You start with a sweep of active work centers, checking parts against specs and verifying that gages are being used correctly. You spot a potential nonconformance, initiate containment at the point of occurrence, and partner with a Team Lead to protect flow. Mid‑morning, you assist with a calibration pull, ensure measurement tools are serviceable, and update gage usage instructions. After lunch, you conduct a point‑of‑occurrence audit, coach an operator on best‑practice measurement techniques, and join a Product Quality Engineer to drive root‑cause analysis on a recurring issue. Before you leave, you log your findings, escalate trends, and plan tomorrow’s roaming inspections to keep our quality presence strong on the floor.

  • Identify quality issues where they occur and initiate immediate containment.
  • Perform point‑of‑occurrence audits against standards and procedures.

  • Background in manufacturing, quality, or inspection preferred.
  • Hands‑on experience with calipers, micrometers, and measurement gages.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

  • Proficiency with GD&T.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and quality mindset.
  • Clear communication and practical problem‑solving skills.
  • Comfort working independently and in partnership with operations and engineering.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

  • Stand and walk throughout the production facility for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
