What are the responsibilities and job description for the Secondary Operator (Machine Operator) position at Steel Supply and Engineering?

Summary:

As a Secondary Operator you will be safely operating secondary equipment ( i.e. drills, mills, tapping, presses, etc.) You are required to meet all quality specifications and production rate. You will be inspecting parts, using a variety of measuring techniques, to support the conformance requirements.

Essential Duties:

Ø Safety - You come to work fit and healthy, work safely, look out for the safety of others, eliminate and report hazards, use protective equipment, and report incidents immediately. You proactively provide written suggestions to improve safety or you are an active member of the safety committee

Ø Quality of Work – You only produce quality work the first time and you attend to the details.

Ø Hustle – You consistently pursue exceeding efficiency standards, you perform at a high energy level and with a sense of urgency.

Ø Knowledge and skills - You know your job and have the skills to produce quality work quickly. You seek out and learn new skills. You are crossed-train to perform your job and 2 others or you are an expert within your responsibilities, have the knowledge to improve operations and you consistently offer written suggestions and implement.

Ø Teamwork - You are quick to lend a hand without being asked, communicate openly, teach others, and improve our work methods.

Ø Housekeeping – You keep your work area clean and organized. You keep tools and equipment clean and in good working condition. You take pride in cleanliness and you keep the plant clean.

Ø Attendance – You show up on time and ready to work. You consistently work whenever needed without complaint or comment (i.e. overtime).

Ø Operate the Secondary equipment in a safe and effective manner

Ø Measure and monitor parts using appropriate instruments to meet all quality standards (conformance)

Ø Meet production rates (employee efficiency)

Ø Notify your supervisor immediately of any issues that prevent you from doing anything included in this job description.

Ø Recognize changes and ask questions accordingly

Ø Track time properly - punch in/out of work orders properly for accurate time tracking and part counts

Ø Support your team leader

Ø Cross train when provided the opportunity and perform any other task assigned

Ø Replaces worn tools, may use statistical process control techniques

Candidate Requirements:

Ø Preferable, but not required: high school diploma or equivalent

Ø Understanding a manufacturing environment with an attention to detail

Ø A team player with excellent communication skills

Ø Strong commitment to doing quality work

Ø Work with high energy and a sense of purpose

Ø Willingness to learn and then apply

Ø Basic computer skills are required

Ø Supports all company goals and demonstrates initiative

Job Demands:

Strength – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Environment:

Due to the environment – the following are required: hearing protection, slip resistant shoes and eye protection. Work area is an oily environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
