What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fabrication Welder/Welder Helper position at Steel Specialties?
Steel Specialties, a privately held steel fabrication shop located in Dunbar and Point Pleasant, WV requires a welder/welder helper. This is a full-time position and has regular Monday through Friday hours with an occasional Saturday.
The welder is required to perform the following tasks:
- Mig welding of mild steel and stainless steel. Most welding is performed on plates, beams, channels, handrails and pipes.
- Assist the Fabrication Fitters on the shop floor with tack welding during the fitting process.
- Prepping joints with a grinder.
- Cleaning welds.
- Overhead crane operation.
- Operating a magnetic drill
- Ability to pass an in house performed D1.1 Welding Test.
- Sandblasting at our Point Pleasant, WV facility.
Experience with the following would be a plus but not required:
- Welding Aluminum
- Stick Welding
- Forklift Operation
- Operating a thread machine
- Assisting and/or operating a burn table
- Operating a plate punch
The candidate is required to:
- Have reliable transportation
- Be available to work Monday through Friday with an occasional Saturday.
- Pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Pass future random drug tests if selected from our random pool.
- Lift 50 lbs.
Compensation:
Compensation is competitive but will vary based upon the candidate's experience.
