Position Summary

 

The Supply Chain & Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, procurement, inventory control, warehousing, and movement of materials to support efficient manufacturing operations. This role ensures that raw materials, components, and finished goods are available when needed while maintaining optimal inventory levels, reducing costs, and supporting on-time production schedules.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage all inventory operations, including receiving, storage, cycle counts, audits, and inventory accuracy.

  • Develop and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize shortages, excess inventory, and material waste.

  • Coordinate purchasing activities by sourcing materials, obtaining quotes, issuing purchase orders, and managing supplier relationships.

  • Monitor inventory levels and forecast material requirements based on production schedules and customer demand.

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and operations teams to ensure timely material availability.

  • Track supplier performance, delivery schedules, and lead times to support uninterrupted manufacturing.

  • Analyze inventory metrics, turnover rates, and purchasing trends to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Oversee warehouse organization and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP/MRP systems and ensure data integrity.

  • Lead cycle count programs and investigate inventory discrepancies to determine root causes and corrective actions.

  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and purchasing agreements with vendors when appropriate.

  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to streamline supply chain and warehouse operations.

  • Prepare reports on inventory levels, procurement activities, cost savings, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Supervise and train warehouse and inventory personnel while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.

  • 5 years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, purchasing, or manufacturing operations.

  • Strong understanding of inventory control, procurement, logistics, and warehouse operations.

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (M1, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification.

  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.

  • Experience in steel fabrication, modular construction, manufacturing, or industrial production environments
