Overview:
Our client is a Boston-based, private family office who is seeking a detail-oriented Finance Associate to support the financial operations of the office. This role is primarily focused on accounting, financial reporting, tax coordination, and cash management across a complex portfolio of entities and investments. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable working with sensitive financial information in a highly confidential environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain books and records for multiple entities, including trusts, partnerships, and LLCs
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Prepare consolidated financial reports and customized reporting packages for principals
- Track and manage cash flows, including capital calls, distributions, and intercompany transfers
- Coordinate with external accountants and tax advisors on tax filings, including preparation and review of K-1s and supporting schedules
- Monitor tax deadlines and ensure timely filing of federal, state, and local returns
- Assist with tax projections and estimated payments in collaboration with advisors
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable, bill pay, and expense tracking
- Maintain documentation related to entity structures, investments, and compliance requirements
- Support audits and respond to information requests from external service providers
- Implement and improve financial processes, controls, and reporting systems
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2–5 years of experience in public accounting, family office, or corporate accounting environment
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting
- Experience with partnership accounting and multi-entity structures preferred
- Familiarity with tax concepts, including K-1s, distributions, and pass-through entities
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite)
- High level of discretion and professionalism
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple entities and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals or family offices
- Exposure to trust and estate accounting or tax
