CNC Machinist, 1st Shift

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate complex parts with minimal supervision. This role is ideal for a skilled machinist who understands tooling, tolerances, speeds and feeds, and enjoys helping improve processes while mentoring others.

What You’ll Do

• Perform all work safely and responsibly while following ISO requirements, safety procedures, quality policies, specifications, and regulations.
• Read and interpret blueprints, tolerances, and technical documentation to produce parts according to print.
• Set up and operate CNC lathes for complex parts with little to no supervision.
• Select, align, secure, and remove fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, inserts, and materials safely and correctly.
• Determine and adjust cutting speeds and feeds based on materials and tooling.
• Recognize tool wear and determine when inserts or tooling need to be replaced.
• Use gauges and precision measuring instruments to verify tolerance requirements.
• Perform first-piece inspections on simple geometries.
• Identify defects, notify the supervisor, initiate NCRs, and complete required quality and production documentation.
• Clear chips from parts during machine stops.
• Create and review simple programs.
• Transfer programs between machines and the shop computer.
• Perform routine cleaning and light maintenance on machinery and equipment.
• Maintain minimal scrap and rework rates.
• Test new tooling and complete time studies to properly prove it out.
• Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes that improve setup efficiency, production, and adaptability.
• Communicate with Engineering and provide guidance and feedback on new and existing parts.
• Continually identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Train and mentor developing machinists.

What You’ll Bring

• At least five years of CNC lathe machining experience, including machine setups.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacture parts according to print.
• Strong understanding of tolerancing, tooling, cutting speeds, and feeds.
• Experience using gauges and precision measuring instruments.
• Understanding of CNC machinery, preferably Mazak machines.
• Ability to work independently on complex setups and parts.
• Experience training and mentoring other employees.
• Your own measuring tools.
• Experience creating conversational programs is preferred.
• Experience with Mazatrol, G-code, and/or Fusion 360 is preferred.

Salary Range: $24-$31, depending upon experience
