What are the responsibilities and job description for the Processing Assistant position at Steel Dynamics, Inc?
Superior Aluminum Alloys
- Actively engage in TCOS program and initiatives
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections to ensure equipment is safe and ready for operation
- Operate heavy/mobile equipment such as pay loaders, skid steers, and forklifts in a safe and efficient manner
- Assist with the operation of the dryer and shredding processes, ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently
- Transport, stage, and store materials using proper handling procedures
- Load and unload trucks, including dross trucks, using mobile equipment while following all safety and material-handling guidelines
- Identify and sort aluminum for proper grading and processing
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to reduce hazards and ensure safe workflow
- Communicate with team members regarding equipment status, safety concerns, and operational needs
- Perform all other tasks assigned safely and efficiently
- Strong commitment to workplace safety with a clear understanding of and adherence to safety rules, procedures, and regulations
- Ability to safely operate mobile equipment
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and industrial environments
- Some heavy lifting required
- Self-motivated team player with excellent attendance and reliability
