What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tube Laser Assistant - 1st Shift Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm position at Steel and Pipe Supply?
General Description
Responsible in assisting the tube laser operators in keeping a continuous workflow with minimal downtime.
Responsibilities:
* Perform shift startup duties per the posted work instructions.
* Remove micro tabbed in cutouts & grind the tabs smooth.
* Tap parts as needed.
* Assist in placing finished parts on pallets, boxes, or bundles.
* Band & shrink wrap finished product per instructions.
* Assist in setup by prepping tables, boxes, & pallets.
* Stack & Organize finished product in the staging area with forklift and overhead crane.
* Wipe down parts or tubes to remove rust as needed.
* Apply rust inhibitor or oil to cut product as required.
* Keep work area clean and safe during production.
* Keep scrap hoppers emptied throughout the shift.
* Empty trash barrels and banding barrels.
* Perform general cleaning tasks including but not limited to sweeping and machine wipe down.
* Assist in machine maintenance and repairs.
* Help check parts for defects, cut quality, blemishes, rust, and other issues as they are produced.
* Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned by fabrication supervisor or manager.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
* Candidate must be a strong team player.
* Candidate has to be reliable.
* A high school graduate or GED equivalent w/ English language fluency.
* Must be able to work in a deadline driven environment.
* Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills are needed.
* Able to multi-task.
* Clear easy to read handwriting.
Physical Requirements

Physical Strength: The ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects using hands, arms, back, abdominal muscles, shoulders, legs, or a combination of these muscle groups.
Stamina: The ability to perform repetitive tasks as well as sitting for long periods. The ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
Visual Acuity: The ability to see details (e.g., letters, numbers, codes, color, symbols, marks, labels, signs, video displays). The ability to utilize a computer monitor for extended periods of time.
Hand-Eye Coordination: The ability to coordinate one's eyes with one's fingers, wrists, or arms to move, carry, or manipulate objects or to perform other job-related tasks.
Work Conditions: The ability to perform job activities, with appropriate intermittent relief where applicable in a sedentary, indoor office. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to constant/intermittent sounds.
Manual Dexterity: The ability to make quick, accurate, skillful, coordinated movements of one hand, one hand in coordination with its arm, or two hands to grasp, place, move, or file objects. The ability to perform repetitive motion with wrist, hands and fingers as the employee will utilize a keyboard frequently.
