Position Description:
The MLL Lab Technician II contributes to customer satisfaction by guaranteeing the quality of our samples. This position
is responsible for supplying our customers with accurate test reports. These reports are collected by preparing
specimens of steel and performing various lab tests on them, including but not limited to: Charpy impact tests, tensile
tests, hardness and bend tests per industry specifications.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Prepare test specimens to meet recognized industry standards by machining, grinding and broaching them with the highest degree of accuracy.
• Perform Charpy impact, tensile, hardness and bend testing to recognized industry standards while maintaining the highest degree of accuracy.
• Demonstrate a safety conscience attitude.
• Prepare test specimens to meet recognized industry standards by machining, grinding and broaching them with the highest degree of accuracy.
• Receive and import data required to generate final report.
• Adhere to industrial specifications and procedures.
• Ability to perform duties of MLL Lab Technician I as well as cross-train and be cross-trained as needed.
• Perform scheduled maintenance of all machining equipment, this includes but is not limited to daily/weekly/monthly/yearly.
• Maintain a safe, clean working environment.
Physical & Work Requirements:
• Overtime and Saturday’s may be required.
• Must have good depth perception.
• Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Must be comfortable working in an environment with machinery and moving parts.
• Work environments include: heated and cooled clean test lab, machine shop, and office.
• Knowledge and use of safety and PPE = Personal Protective Equipment required in all positions and of everyone working in the lab.
• Use of other tools and equipment may be required.

Required Background, Competencies & Expertise:
• Experience working in a machining or processing environment.
• Good analytical skills and be able to identify departures from procedures for performing tests and calibrations and initiate corrective and preventive actions accordingly.
• Experience with data acquisition and electronic data entry.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others under stress.
• Ability to meet the demands of customer time constraints.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Background, Competencies & Expertise:
• Knowledge of mechanical testing procedures which include tensile testing, Charpy impact testing, and hardness testing.
• Experience performing tensile tests, Charpy impact tests, and hardness tests.
• Experience with using milling machines and band saws.
• 2 years of experience as a mechanical lab technician.
• Experience with ISO 17025 lab accreditation.
• CNC vertical machine center operations experience

- Starting pay of $19.50 an hour depending on experience.
