For this position, we anticipate a salary range between $55,000 - $65,000. Final employment offers will be dependent upon the selected candidate’s relevant qualifications and experience.
JOB SUMMARY
The primary responsibilities of a collection specialist include collections on all delinquent accounts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Make outgoing calls on accounts that are currently past due.
- Prepare and send documents as needed on currently past due contracts.
- Work at a rapid pace to ensure a good number of calls are made while securing payments.
- Demonstrates solid use of phone skills and the ability to collect on all dollar amounts.
- Continues to work with the customer on all related questions concerning the account status.
- Work with all departments to obtain useful and valuable information to work out the best solution to obtain payments.
- Skip trace on accounts using in-house documents, directory assistance, Internet, etc.
- Accelerate accounts when necessary. Keeps proper documentation on all accelerations.
- Keeps manager informed on problem accounts.
- Work with our legal department and potential external attorneys on contracts that need legal action.
- Loss prevention and security as applicable for this position.
- Performs all other work duties as assigned.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all legal and regulatory compliance issues as they pertain to this position.
REQUIREMENTS
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
- Literacy in English.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time, twist, bend, sit, walk use hands to twist, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, such as computer mouse, computer keyboard, calculator, stapler, telephone, staple puller, etc., reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, talk, or hear.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Maintain working knowledge of office tools (copier, mail machine, etc.) needed to support office staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and ten key skills are required.
- Flexible.
