JOB SUMMARY
The Head Tennis Professional is a highly visible position and will assist with the growth and organization of our youth and adult customers through a variety of programs such as socials, drills, juniors, camps and high-performance tennis. Directly train, manage and supervise our team of tennis pros. Work with the Director of Tennis to develop and implement a curriculum for the recreational and competitive junior program. Stay abreast of the latest teaching techniques and tournament software. Hours per week will vary but should average around 32. Expect to be on court for at least 6 hours/week with adults, 10 hours/week with juniors, plus occasional camps/events; remaining hours will be used off court for administrative functions. Separate private lessons teaching allowed in addition to these hours. As an integral part of our tennis team, the Head Tennis Professional will inspire members through teaching and personal attention. Rate of pay will be commensurate with experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Promote and implement center programs, lessons and events to increase player participation
· Provide a remarkable member experience by caring and connecting with students
· Develop the junior program curriculum and handle staff scheduling. The Head Pro is expected to be the first person staffed, only adding additional part-time pros if numbers allow
· Help train our team of tennis pros to make sure they keep up with teaching/feeding best practices
· Send regular messages to students through phone calls, texts, and/or emails encouraging them to sign up for appropriate programs/events
· Establish industry connections to promote visibility of our center to relevant external organizations
· Help plan and run tournaments and events
· Assist as needed with Pro Shop promotion, merchandizing ideas and organization.
· Make sure the stringing department runs smoothly, completing all goals related to racquet turnaround
· Set up programs and events through our registration software
· Work with marketing to create accurate, attention-grabbing program flyers
· Recommend strings/demo racquets and other pro shop items to increase sales
· Provide tennis lessons from beginner to competitive players and motivate them with positive encouragement
· Create budgets for new programs, assist with tracking success of both new and current programs to ensure performance metrics are met, including financial and utilization goals
· Assist with coordination of facility maintenance as needed
· Consistently express enthusiasm for the sport of tennis
· Put away all equipment after use and make sure the center looks clean and organized
· Plan to help with the seasonal set-up and tear-down of the outside courts
Qualifications:
· A demonstrated results-orientated, excellence-driven, positive leadership style as shown by setting and achieving challenging program objectives
· Exceptional player/coach/parent management skills, including conflict resolution skills
· Exceptional tennis technical and analytical skills
· Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
· Willingness to travel occasionally to support programs
· Ability to string racquets or willingness to learn
· University degree or equivalent preferred
· High performance coaching experience preferred
· Past or present 4.5 rated tennis player preferred

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· USTA Coaching/RSPA/PTR certification
· CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (must be obtained within 60 days of hire)
Pay will be commensurate with experience, with a base salary starting in the range of $57,000-$62,000/year (not including private lessons, which come with a reduced court fee for this position), plus benefits. Deadline to apply is June 15, 2026.
