Position Summary
The HR Specialist, Training & Engagement is responsible for creating an engaging and inclusive employee experience across the full employee lifecycle. This role supports the development and delivery of training programs, employee engagement initiatives, and internal communications to ensure employees feel welcomed, supported, and connected to Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp (SSRC) and the HR Department.
This is a Flex Year-Round position, which means that you will work 10 out of 12 months in the year. This also means that Year-Round benefits apply, however there are 2 months during the year when business levels are lower, and scheduled hours will not be provided.

Essential Duties
- Design, develop, and deliver engaging training programs and materials, including presentations, e-learning modules, and multimedia content; maintain and assign training within Workday
- Prepare and coordinate company-wide orientations and employee training under the guidance of the Training & Engagement Manager.
- Coordinate and manage training logistics, including scheduling, communication, materials, and space planning
- Develop and deliver New Hire and New Manager Orientations.
- Coordinate all assessments, scheduling, and follow-up evaluation of all corporate training. This includes, but is not limited to management skills training, and OSHA & Safety training.
- Manage companywide communication tools including internal communications platform: Field Guide and other systems/tools.
- Organize and execute company-wide employee engagement events, such as Winter Welcome, Summer Welcome, Service Awards, mid-season and end of season events.
- Facilitate distribution, collection, and analysis of the Employee Engagement Survey.
- Participate in company committees to support and encourage employee engagement.
- Administrate the Employee Recognition program.
- Collaborates with Alterra's learning and development team to implement shared services programming.
- Provide employees, supervisors and managers with current, relevant training information by consulting various training sources, HR systems, and personnel files.
- Serve as general back-up for other functions within the Human Resources office as coverage necessitates as well as respond to basic questions to assist the overall HR communication process.
- Track training in New Hire Orientation Form and HRIS (Workday).
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements.
- Attend HR team meetings and perform other duties within the HR department as needed.
- Assists with responding to HR Fresh Service tickets

- 2-4 years of experience in Human Resources with knowledge of administration and training functions required. Administrative experience managing many different tasks at once in a busy environment.
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering engaging training programs for diverse audiences (including frontline and leadership teams)
- Experience with Workday preferred
- Ability to interact, model, and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with SSRC's Service Excellence standards
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and sound judgment
- Highly organized with exceptional time management skills; able to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Strong knowledge, aptitude and ability to work in a wide variety of software programs: including Excel, Word, Outlook, Forms, PowerPoint and Articulate Storyline
- Excellent public speaking skills required
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively; comfortable taking ownership of projects from concept through execution
- Creative thinker with an inclusive mindset; ability to develop innovative approaches to training and engagement
- Ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable recommendations (data analysis skills preferred)
- Passion for employee experience, development, and creating a positive, engaging workplace culture
- Bachelor's degree preferred
