Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Marine Motor Mechanic/Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide range of water transportation equipment, including marine engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components. Your expertise will ensure the safe and efficient operation of vessels and related machinery, supporting our commitment to excellence in marine services. Duties

  • Perform comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul of marine engines, propulsion systems, and mechanical components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Diagnose electrical issues within ship electrical systems using schematics, ohmmeters, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools; troubleshoot marine electrical systems effectively.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting manuals to accurately identify issues and implement repairs.
  • Conduct rigging operations and fabrication tasks involving sheet metal welding, soldering, caliper measurements, and assembly work to support vessel modifications or repairs.
  • Maintain water transportation equipment by inspecting mechanical systems, replacing worn parts, and ensuring compliance with safety standards using personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Utilize maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) procedures to optimize equipment performance while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with team members on electrical diagnostics, ship electrical systems maintenance, and marine propulsion systems maintenance to ensure vessel readiness.
  • Support customer service initiatives by providing technical guidance on repairs or maintenance needs for marine vessels.
  • Engage in heavy lifting activities safely while following established safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a service technician or mechanic specializing in marine engines or water transportation equipment.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in marine engine repair and mechanical systems repair.
  • Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, and engineering troubleshooting methods.
  • Electrical experience including marine electrical systems troubleshooting and diagnostics using ohmmeters and multimeters.
  • Experience with rigging, fabrication (sheet metal welding), soldering, calipers, and the use of power tools for assembly or repairs.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics accurately; experience with assembly processes is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills combined with effective communication abilities.
  • Physical capability for heavy lifting; adherence to PPE use at all times during maintenance activities.
