Overview
Stealth Underground is hiring an experienced Supervisor/Foreman to lead underground utility crews on fiber optic and utility installation projects. This role is responsible for day-to-day crew leadership, job site safety, production, and quality on directional drilling, plow, conduit, and handhole installation work. This is a year-round position (not seasonal), with overtime available as weather and project schedules allow. Ideal for someone who has come up through underground construction and is ready to lead a crew.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct daily activities of underground construction crews, including directional drilling, plow, trenching, and conduit installation
- Serve as the excavation/trenching Competent Person on site per 29 CFR 1926 Subpart P, ensuring safe trench and excavation practices
- Plan daily work sequencing, staffing, and equipment needs to meet production goals
- Review plans and locates before work begins; ensure work matches design and permit requirements
- Enforce jobsite safety protocols, traffic control plans, and PPE requirements; conduct job hazard analyses
- Train, mentor, and evaluate crew members; provide on-the-job guidance to laborers and operators
- Communicate daily progress, delays, and issues to operations management
- Coordinate with utility locators, inspectors, and client/municipal representatives on site
- Maintain accurate daily reports, time tracking, and material usage logs
- Ensure equipment is operated safely and maintained properly by the crew
- Travel to job sites across Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, and Montana as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience as a foreman, lead, or supervisor in underground utility, fiber, or heavy civil construction
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required (or ability to obtain quickly)
- Excavation/Trenching Competent Person certification (29 CFR 1926 Subpart P) required or ability to obtain
- Strong working knowledge of directional drilling, plow operations, and conduit/fiber installation methods
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, utility locates, and permits
- Valid driver's license; CDL a plus
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and be on your feet for extended periods
Pay
Based on experience
Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
