Senior UX Engineer

We are a leading UAV technology company building next-generation aerial systems for commercial, defense, and industrial applications. Our products integrate advanced flight hardware, onboard computing, mission-critical software, and cloud-connected tools. We are looking for a Senior UX Engineer who can bridge the gap between hardware, embedded systems, and software interfaces to craft intuitive, high-performance experiences for pilots, operators, and customers.

Role Overview

As a Senior UX Engineer, you will drive user experience strategy and execution across our full UAV ecosystem—including ground control stations, onboard interfaces, mission-planning tools, companion apps, and hardware interactions. You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams to create unified, safe, and efficient operator experiences that work in both physical and digital environments.

This role blends UX design, interaction design, and front-end engineering, with a strong emphasis on human–machine interaction, real-time systems, and complex technical workflows.

Key Responsibilities

User Experience & Interaction Design

• Lead UX research and design for mission-critical UAV experiences spanning hardware controls, embedded interfaces, web apps, and mobile apps.

• Translate user needs into wireframes, prototypes, interaction flows, and final design specifications.

• Develop and maintain a unified design system used across flight control software, cloud dashboards, and operator tools.

• Conduct usability testing with pilots, field operators, and customers in simulated and real-world environments.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with hardware engineers to ensure physical interfaces (GCS units, joysticks, displays, buttons, feedback systems) are intuitive, ergonomic, and aligned with software workflows.

• Collaborate with software engineers to implement smooth, performant UI components and data visualizations for telemetry, mapping, and real-time video.

• Partner with product managers to define requirements and prioritize features based on user impact.

Front-End Engineering

• Implement production-level UI features (e.g., flight status indicators, mission planning tools, live video overlays, map interactions).

• Build rapid prototypes using tools like React, Qt/QML, Flutter, or equivalent.

• Work with backend and embedded teams to integrate real-time data from UAV hardware, including sensor streams and telemetry.

Safety & Human Factors

• Apply human-factors engineering principles to reduce operator workload and prevent misuse.

• Ensure interfaces meet aviation-grade clarity, reliability, and standards compliance where applicable.

Required Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in UX engineering, interaction design, or front-end development.

• Prior experience designing for hardware–software systems, embedded devices, or real-time control interfaces.

• Strong portfolio demonstrating complex, workflow-heavy products or mission-critical systems.

• Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, or similar design tools.

• Proficiency in modern UI frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, Qt/QML, Flutter, or similar).

• Familiarity with mapping tools, telemetry visualization, or real-time sensor data.

• Strong understanding of usability, accessibility, and human-machine interaction principles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in UAV, robotics, aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or another high-reliability field.

• Understanding of flight operations, autonomy, or remote control systems.

• Experience with hardware prototyping, 3D modeling, or designing physical interfaces.

• Knowledge of GIS/3D mapping, video streaming interfaces, or real-time dashboards.

• Familiarity with regulatory considerations (FAA, DO-178C, MIL-STD, etc.) is a plus.
