What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infrastructure/Platform Engineer position at Stealth AI Startup?
We’re a well-funded, early-stage AI company building ambitious technology at the intersection of artificial intelligence and computing infrastructure. Our team is working on deeply technical problems with the potential to meaningfully advance how AI systems are developed and scaled.
We’re looking for a highly technical Infrastructure / Platform Engineer to help build the foundational systems that support our engineering organization. In this highly hands-on role, you’ll work across cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, CI/CD, and internal systems, with meaningful ownership over how our technical environment is designed and scaled.
We’re looking for someone with strong software engineering and IC skills, deep infrastructure expertise, and a willingness to operate across traditional boundaries when needed. You should thrive on variety — equally comfortable architecting infrastructure, writing code and automation, improving developer workflows, and occasionally picking up IT or systems administration work where it’s important to the team.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable cloud infrastructure.
- Own and evolve our Infrastructure-as-Code environment, with a strong emphasis on tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
- Design and implement performant, scalable, and secure CI/CD pipelines and developer workflows.
- Build and improve tooling across testing, deployment, observability, and release infrastructure.
- Partner closely with software engineers to improve developer velocity, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Identify infrastructure bottlenecks and build tooling and automation to eliminate repetitive operational work.
- Help establish best practices across cloud architecture, security, access management, reliability, and infrastructure operations.
- Take ownership of broader internal infrastructure needs when required, including occasional IT, systems administration, and internal tooling projects.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong software engineering and hands-on coding skills; this is an engineering role, not primarily an operations or support position.
- Deep experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform or Pulumi.
- Experience designing and implementing sophisticated CI/CD systems, ideally with GitHub Actions and CircleCI.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, deployment patterns, and production systems.
- Experience building infrastructure that is performant, scalable, secure, and maintainable.
- Comfort working across Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, DevOps, and Systems Engineering.
- Willingness to jump into less glamorous but important areas — including IT or SysAdmin work — when needed.
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving environment and take projects from architecture through implementation.
Nice to Have
- Significant experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience building internal developer platforms or developer productivity tooling.
- Experience supporting rapidly scaling engineering organizations.
- Familiarity with infrastructure security, IAM, observability, incident response, or production reliability.
- Experience in an early-stage or startup environment where technical responsibilities naturally span multiple domains.
