Role Description
The position is for a full-time Armed Security Officer or Unarmed Special Conservator of the Peace (SCOP), located in Rocky Mount, Virginia. Applicants who are currently licensed as Unarmed Security Officers through the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), or who have prior law enforcement, military, or corrections experience with a minimum of two years of security-related experience or equivalent, will be trained for this position. The schedule operates on a rotating basis, consisting of three 12-hour shifts during Week 1 and four 12-hour shifts during Week 2. The main office and dispatch center are located in Wytheville, VA. The selected applicant will be stationed at the Rocky Mount office and dispatched to assignments within the Roanoke and Martinsville, VA areas. The Officer will be responsible for taking custody of individuals under Temporary Detention Orders (TDOs) from law enforcement officers and maintaining custody while the individual is being assessed—until an in-patient bed becomes available and transport is required, or the individual is discharged.

- Ability to pass a criminal background investigation
- Ability to pass random drug screenings
- DCJS of Virginia registration as an Armed Security Officer or Unarmed Special Conservator of the Peace (SCOP); Armed Security and Unarmed SCOP training will be provided if needed
- Minimum of two years of security or equivalent experience
- Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) preferred; training will be provided if necessary
