Responsibilities
- Provide companionship by engaging clients in conversation, activities, and social outings to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and preferences, ensuring safety and cleanliness during food handling
- Monitor clients’ health by observing vital signs, noting changes in condition, and reporting concerns to family or healthcare professionals
- Support medication reminders and help with light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces to maintain a safe environment
- Assist with transportation for appointments or errands, ensuring safety during travel and adherence to care plans
- Follow all HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and maintain professional standards of care
Requirements
- Prior experience in home & community care, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, Alzheimer’s/dementia/memory care strategies, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in hospice care or HIPAA compliance is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary (e.g., assisting with transfers or mobility) and operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients’ families and healthcare teams
- Demonstrated compassion, patience, and adaptability in caring for diverse populations across long-term care settings
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are preferred for client outings
