What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Laboratory Chemist position at STC USA LLC?
In Search of:
Associate Laboratory Chemist – 6 Month Term (recurring or with extensions)
Mon-Fri. 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
STC USA is a consumer product safety testing laboratory.
We provide Chemical, Physical, and Flammability Testing alongside documentation review according to several Domestic and Global safety standards. The laboratory is ISO 17025 accredited. STC USA is the Analytical Division of STC GROUP, a global non-profit lab group based in Hong Kong.
Role:
-Receive, Catalog, and Sample consumer products submitted to the lab.
-Acid digestion/organic solvent digestion, and final sample work-ups.
-Preparation of calibration curves for GC-MS, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, HPLC.
-Cleaning Laboratory Equipment, Sample Vessels, Performing Simple Equipment Maintenance.
-Digital Maintenance of Records, using LIMS and other internal corporate systems to maintain ISO 17025 compliance and internal validation.
-Manual Maintenance of Records, laboratory worksheets and record keeping that parallels the digital records.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
-General Understanding of Chromatography, Mass Spectroscopy, Spectrophotometry, Beer-Lambert, etc.
-General Understanding of computers (saving files, converting file types, self-motivated research) and Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel primarily).
-Comfortable working with: Nitric Acid, Hydrochloric Acid, Aqua Regia, Hexanes, Dichloromethane, Tetrahydrofuran, Phthalates in solution, Heavy Metals in solution, other organic solvents as needed.
-Comfortable with Fine Scraping and Cutting using razors, knives, and cutting tools.
-Comfortable with Large Cutting tools – bolt cutters, metal cutters.
-Able to lift between 25-50 lbs.
-Experience using GC-MS, ICP-OES/MS, HPLC, UV-Vis.
-Experience with dilutions for calibration in acidic and organic solvents.
Pay: $2,600.00 - $3,500.00 per month
