We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Part-Time Kennel Technician to join our team at a local dog daycare, boarding, training, and grooming facility. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and has a genuine love for dogs and customer service. Those most likely to succeed in this position have a background in animal care settings such as rescues, dog daycare facilities, dog training, ranch hand experience, or veterinary experience.
Position Overview
This is a team-oriented, physically demanding role that requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask effectively. Responsibilities vary by shift and may include:
- Handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Maintaining kennel cleanliness
- Nail trims, dog bathing, feeding, and administering medications
- Monitoring dog behavior in play yards and kennels
- Poop scooping and general facility upkeep
- Greeting clients in person and building positive customer relationships
Requirements
- Flexible availability during core business hours on weekdays and weekends (7:00 AM–12:30 PM and/or 2:00 PM–7:00 PM)
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays (4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) .
- Strong attention to detail, especially in monitoring dog behavior and safety
- Professional experience working with dogs (kennel, daycare, grooming, or veterinary setting) or ranch hand experience.
- Comfortable with customer-facing interactions
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely handle dogs up to 100 pounds
- Willingness to administer medications (eye drops, ear drops, pills)
- Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with veterinary software or customer record management (CRM) platforms.
- Experience as a receptionist in a dog boarding facility, dog daycare, or a veterinary office.
- Familiarity with Office365, including OneDrive and Outlook
