Maintenance Engineer

Repairs and maintains physical structure of hotel using hand tools and power tools in compliance with company policies and legal considerations. Coordinates with the front desk reception and housekeeping and resolves problems arising from guests' complaints, reservation and room assignment activities, and unusual requests and inquiries by performing the following duties personally. Tasks also include maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises. Maintenance is also responsible for courteous and safe transportation of guests to and from desired destinations. Will greet guests and tend to guest questions and needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintains hotel by performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities using hand tools.
• Must follow all IHG Brand Standards.
• Wears assigned uniforms.
• Follows a shift checklist that must be completed by the end of shift.
• Frequently uses stairs to get between floors.
• Be willing to accept constructive criticism in order to be inspection ready.
• Replaces air conditioner filters.
• Notifies management concerning the need for major repairs or additions to lighting., heating, and ventilating equipment as well as maintenance supplies.
• May tend furnace, air conditioner, and boiler to provide heat, cool air, and hot water for guests.
• Ensures all projects are completed according to specifications and are completed on time.
• Works closely with housekeeping department and front desk to ensure coordination of activities and guest satisfaction.
• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules and recommends measures to improve production.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists team in problem solving.
• May estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
• May set up machines and equipment.
• Complies with preventative maintenance binder by completing daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly projects and meet deadline expectations.
• Flips mattress semi-annually.
• Sets up cribs, rollaway beds, and air mattresses as needed.
• Tends to guest requests to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Checks pool PH and chemical levels daily as well as keep the pool and spa clear of any trash or leaves with CPO Certification.
• Locks and unlocks pool gates at designated times.
• Patrols the property on a regular basis to look out for anything suspicious and escorts people off property as needed.
• Takes out trash from all departments daily as well as trash throughout the hotel.
• Keeps pool area clean which includes cleaning pool chairs, pool fence, and refilling the clean towel basket and removing dirty towels.
• Maintains cleanliness of the property by picking up trash indoors and outdoors, maintaining ash trays and pet stations, cleaning all entryways daily, and vacuuming hallways multiple times throughout shift.
• Maintains BBQ grills by cleaning them daily, removing grease build up, and checking propane tanks.
• Drives the hotel shuttle when requested by guests, management, and to buy supplies for the hotel.
• Frequently uses ladders for reaching and frequently uses stairs.
• Coordinates with outside technicians and services to improve hotel quality.
• Coordinates with supervisor on projects and ideas.
• Helps the kitchen department with food deliveries.
• Assist housekeeping when needed, including cleaning rooms, shampooing carpets, and assisting with laundry.
• Wears gloves when handling dirty linens.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Walk, bend and stoop for extended periods of time.
• Stand for up to 8 hours.
• Occasionally lift objects up to 100 pounds. Must wear back brace for any objects over 25 pounds. Any objects 50 pounds or more require the assistance of another employee.
• Occasionally push and pull up to 75 pounds. Must wear back brace for any objects over 35 pounds. Any objects 50 pounds or more require the assistance of another employee.
• Efficiently multitask.
• Tend to guests in a friendly and courteous manner and be personable.
• Read and follow manuals and instructions.
• Work to precise measurements.
• Work outdoors in different weather conditions.
• Maintain guest safety and hotel quality.
• Create new ways and ideas to improve safety and quality of hotel.
• Actively engage in different cultures.
• Ability to meet attendance requirements, including holidays, weekends, and 24 hour availability. Any time off requests must be submitted one week in advance.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
