About Stay After School

Stay After School is a rapidly growing, founder-led education company helping school districts deliver high-quality expanded learning programs at scale.

Our programs include before-school and after-school care, summer camps, structured recess, and enrichment experiences in STEM, coding, robotics, artificial intelligence, sports, arts, career readiness, leadership, and social-emotional learning. We believe the hours outside the traditional school day should be more than childcare—they should help students build confidence, discover new interests, and develop skills for their future.

Our founders previously started KidzToPros, now BAM, and helped build it into a successful national enrichment organization through the sales systems, district relationships, operational processes, and scalable program infrastructure they created.

That experience also revealed a much larger problem: school districts do not simply need more enrichment content. They need a reliable partner capable of recruiting, training, scheduling, managing, and retaining the people required to deliver enrichment programs consistently across multiple campuses.

Stay After School is being built to solve that broader challenge: enrichment staffing and program delivery at district scale.

We are profitable, self-funded, and growing quickly. Revenue increased from approximately $1 million to $3.5 million, and the company is positioned to exceed approximately $6 million in recurring revenue before accounting for additional new business.

The Opportunity

We are hiring a VP / Director of District Partnerships to lead business development across California.

This is not a traditional education sales position centered primarily on submitting RFP responses.

Many district opportunities are created through trusted relationships, direct engagement, thoughtful problem-solving, and a strong understanding of district funding and operational needs.

The successful candidate will already know how California school districts operate and will have relationships with ELOP directors, expanded learning leaders, superintendents, cabinet members, procurement teams, and other district decision-makers.

Initially, this will be a hands-on individual contributor role. You will personally develop relationships, build the pipeline, visit districts, create solutions, prepare proposals, negotiate agreements, and close business. As the California portfolio grows, you will have the opportunity to help build and lead a broader district partnerships and customer success organization.

This role is particularly well suited for someone who wants to build rather than inherit—a disciplined salesperson who can operate independently, create a repeatable market-development process, and help shape the next stage of the company.

What You Will Do
  • Develop strategic relationships with ELOP directors, expanded learning leaders, district administrators, superintendents, and other California education decision-makers.
  • Identify district needs related to before-school, after-school, summer, enrichment, structured recess, staffing, and program implementation.
  • Create new opportunities through direct outreach, referrals, networking, field visits, conferences, and relationship development.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle, from account identification and discovery through proposal development, negotiation, contracting, and handoff.
  • Build and maintain a disciplined pipeline of district opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate visibility into outreach, meetings, proposals, next steps, contract value, probability, and anticipated close dates.
  • Work directly with the founders to prioritize territories, refine positioning, develop solutions, and improve the company’s sales process.
  • Represent Stay After School at district meetings, conferences, association events, and industry gatherings.
  • Collaborate with recruiting, operations, compliance, curriculum, and customer success teams to ensure commitments made during the sales process can be implemented successfully.
  • Serve as a consultative partner who understands district funding, enrollment goals, staffing constraints, compliance requirements, and student-programming priorities.
  • Help recruit, mentor, and lead future district partnership and customer success team members as the company grows.
What Success Looks Like

During the first year, the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Generate approximately $4 million in new contract value.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of at least 12 qualified district opportunities.
  • Secure multiple long-term district partnerships.
  • Establish trusted relationships with ELOP and expanded learning leaders throughout California.
  • Implement a measurable, repeatable, and disciplined district sales process.
  • Help create the foundation for a larger California partnerships team.

The company’s typical district opportunities are substantial, frequently involving multi-year agreements with meaningful recurring revenue.

Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated success selling services or solutions directly to California school districts.
  • Existing relationships with California ELOP directors, expanded learning leaders, or other district decision-makers.
  • A record of generating business through proactive relationship development—not solely through formal RFPs.
  • Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes.
  • Strong consultative selling, presentation, proposal-development, and negotiation capabilities.
  • A disciplined approach to pipeline management and activity tracking.
  • The ability to translate a district’s needs into a practical, financially viable program solution.
  • Strong personal accountability, persistence, urgency, and follow-through.
  • Excellent interpersonal and executive communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently throughout California.
  • Residence in California, preferably in Southern California, Central California, or the Sacramento region.
Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred:

  • Expanded learning or ELOP
  • Before-school and after-school programming
  • Education staffing
  • Youth enrichment
  • Summer learning
  • Structured recess or social-emotional learning
  • Educational services
  • Workforce development
  • EdTech
  • School district outsourcing or managed services
Compensation and Benefits
  • Base salary: $120,000–$160,000, depending on experience
  • Uncapped commission plan
  • First-year on-target earnings of $200,000
  • Additional earning potential tied to multi-year district contracts
  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Remote home-office environment with substantial California field travel
Why Join Stay After School?

This is an opportunity to join an experienced founding team at a pivotal stage of growth.

The founders have already built a successful enrichment company and understand how to develop district relationships, construct a disciplined sales funnel, implement programs, recruit instructors, and scale operations. Stay After School is applying those lessons to an even larger need: helping districts solve the staffing and execution challenges that prevent them from offering consistent, high-quality enrichment to more students.

You will work directly with the founders, have meaningful influence over company strategy, and see a clear connection between the partnerships you create and the students and families those programs serve.

We are looking for someone who is commercially ambitious, mission-driven, highly accountable, and excited to build.

  • To apply, please submit your résumé and a brief note describing your experience selling to California school districts, the regions or districts where you have established relationships, and one district partnership you personally helped originate and close.
