What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Officer position at Staunton Police Department?
The Staunton Police Department is currently accepting applications for a successful candidate to attend the Southwestern Illinois Police Academy (SWIC) in Belleville Illinois. The successful candidate must sign a 3 year employment contract with the City of Staunton and successfully complete the POWER Test on December 1, 2026. The academy will start on January 4, 2027 and finish on April 23, 2027 . The candidate will be required to stay on campus during the academy.

Candidates must be 21 years of age and have no Felony convictions. Candidates must possess a valid Illinois Drivers license, FOID card, and will be required to live with in 30 miles of City Limits within 6 months after hiring.
Duties include patrol, answering calls for service and traffic enforcement.
