DIVISION SUPERINTENDENT
The Staunton City School Board seeks an outstanding educational leader to serve as superintendent of Staunton City Schools (SCS). Staunton’s next superintendent has a great opportunity to work with a dedicated school board, an excellent staff, and a supportive community to provide an educational program that enables students to prepare for success in a complex and changing world. Staunton is a thriving city in the heart of the historic Shenandoah Valley, only 30 miles west of Charlottesville, in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Staunton was named one of the best small towns in America by Smithsonian magazine, one of the great small towns near D.C. by Washingtonian, and one of America’s greatest main streets by Travel & Leisure. The birthplace of our country’s 28th President, Woodrow Wilson, Staunton draws numerous tourists to its rich historic background, unique architecture, and its many scenic cultural and recreational attractions. SCS is a public school division serving approximately 2,730 students. SCS is comprised of three (3) elementary schools, one (1) middle school, one (1) high school, and an educational center that houses the division’s preschool program. The school division also participates in the regional career/technical education center and the regional governor’s school. Staunton City Schools employs over 500 professional and support staff. SCS sets high expectations for its students and staff which has resulted in significant growth in achievement. SCS ranks in the top one-third of Virginia school divisions in achievement and 12th in Virginia by its employees as a good place to work.

Salary for the successful candidate will be regionally competitive.
