STATUS Health Partners
Ankeny, IA Full Time
POSTED ON 9/10/2026

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Recruiting Manager to lead our physician recruitment efforts and drive the growth of our organization. The Recruiting Manager is a hands-on leadership position responsible for developing, managing, and executing the company’s physician and advanced practice provider recruiting strategy. This individual will lead the recruiting team while maintaining an active personal candidate pipeline and directly recruiting physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants for rural emergency-department opportunities.

The Recruiting Manager will serve as a working leader—not solely an administrative supervisor. The successful candidate will balance team leadership, individual recruiting production, pipeline management, process improvement, and collaboration with Scheduling, Credentialing, Operations, and Business Development.

This position reports to the COO.

Responsibilities

Hands-On Provider Recruiting

  • Personally source, contact, screen, and recruit physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
  • Maintain an active portfolio of priority openings and difficult-to-fill facilities.
  • Conduct initial candidate interviews and assess clinical background, availability, geographic preferences, compensation expectations, and suitability for rural emergency medicine.
  • Present qualified candidates to internal leadership and hospital partners.
  • Develop relationships with prospective providers through consistent and professional follow-up.
  • Negotiate compensation and other engagement terms within established company guidelines.
  • Reengage inactive candidates and providers who may be interested in additional shifts or new opportunities.
  • Build long-term provider pipelines in the company’s current and targeted markets.
  • Clearly communicate the company’s partnership model, expectations, and value proposition to prospective providers.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the recruiting team.
  • Establish individual and departmental recruiting priorities.
  • Assign openings and sourcing responsibilities based on facility needs and recruiter capacity.
  • Conduct regular pipeline reviews and individual coaching sessions.
  • Monitor recruiter activity, productivity, candidate quality, and follow-through.
  • Provide recruiters with practical coaching on sourcing, candidate engagement, interviewing, objection handling, and closing.
  • Create accountability for recruiting goals, deadlines, and accurate documentation.
  • Participate in recruiting team hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.

Recruiting Strategy and Pipeline Management

  • Develop recruiting strategies for rural, low-volume, and difficult-to-fill emergency departments.
  • Maintain a facility-specific recruiting plan for priority openings.
  • Identify new sourcing channels, job boards, professional associations, residency programs, referral opportunities, and direct outreach methods.
  • Build targeted pipelines by provider type, specialty, state, and geographic preference.
  • Partner with Marketing to strengthen provider-facing messaging, recruiting campaigns, and employer brand awareness.
  • Recommend changes to provider compensation, travel support, scheduling structure, or position design when market conditions affect recruitment.
  • Maintain accurate candidate records and recruiting activity in the applicant tracking system or CRM.
  • Ensure candidate ownership, status, next steps, and communications are clearly documented.

Qualifications

Required

  • At least five years of recruiting experience, preferably in healthcare, physician recruitment, advanced practice provider recruitment, staffing, or a related field.
  • Previous experience leading, coaching, or supervising recruiters.
  • Demonstrated success sourcing and closing difficult-to-recruit candidates.
  • Strong telephone, written communication, interviewing, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple facilities, candidates, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Experience working with applicant tracking systems, recruiting CRMs, job boards, and direct-sourcing platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills and consistent attention to documentation and follow-through.
  • Ability to interpret recruiting data and turn it into specific actions.
  • Sound judgment when discussing compensation, candidate concerns, and sensitive employment matters.

Preferred

  • Experience recruiting physicians or advanced practice providers.
  • Experience with emergency medicine, rural healthcare, hospital staffing, or locum tenens.
  • Familiarity with medical licensing, credentialing, privileging, and provider onboarding.
  • Experience recruiting independent contractors or 1099 clinicians.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, healthcare administration, or a related field.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A working leader who is willing to recruit alongside the team
  • Persistent without sacrificing professionalism
  • Comfortable holding others accountable
  • Highly responsive and dependable

Compensation is negotiable, depending on provider-recruiting experience, leadership background, and demonstrated results. This position may also be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation. This is a full-time, in office (or possibly hybrid) position.
