What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at Stature Strategy?
Stature Strategy has been engaged by a multi-generational family office, that owns and operates a ~$100M portfolio of manufacturing businesses, to hire a Cost Accountant who will strengthen cost discipline across the portfolio and turn data into practical decisions. The role owns standard costs and inventory valuation, prepares clear variance and margin analyses, and translates insights for pricing, production, and purchasing. Partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering, you’ll improve BOM/routing accuracy, reduce waste, enhance throughput, and support a timely, well-controlled close, audits, and compliance; ultimately delivering accurate, decision-ready information that fuels profitable growth.
In this seat, you’ll lead product costing and monthly cost/variance reporting; run inventory valuation, reconciliations, and cycle/annual counts; and maintain robust cost-allocation methods across products, work centers, and projects. You’ll build and maintain material, labor, and overhead standards; analyze PPV, usage, labor, and absorption variances; support project/job costing and %-of-completion revenue; and provide clear profitability views by product, customer, and channel. The role is highly cross-functional; collaborating with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Sales, while streamlining close processes, automating reports, and elevating data integrity across ERP and BI tools.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CMA preferred) with 5 years in cost/manufacturing accounting and hands-on plant exposure to standards, variances, inventory, and job/project costing. You bring strong analytical and communication skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to brief managers and coach plant teams. Advanced Excel (lookups, pivots, Power Query/Power Pivot) and proficiency with ERP/MRP and reporting systems are expected; experience in product costing/estimating, blueprint/BOM literacy, and modern ERPs (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Infor, Epicor) and BI tools are pluses.
