Permitting Coordinator
We are seeking a highly resourceful, self-sufficient, and tenacious Permitting Coordinator to join our structural engineering firm. Our team specializes in Historic Restoration, Marine Engineering, and Construction Management. In this role, you will take complete ownership of the permitting process from start to finish. We need a self-directed professional who can independently research what is required for each unique permit, figure out the execution pathway, and drive approvals to the finish line with zero oversight.
Duties
- Independent Research: Analyze municipal, county, and state codes to determine exact submission requirements for each project.
- Pipeline Ownership: Manage the entire permit application life cycle for marine, historic preservation, and general construction projects.
- Tenacious Tracking: Make daily calls and follow up consistently with regulatory agencies to advance pending permits.
- Coastal Permitting: Secure CAMA Major and Minor permits and navigate V-Zone certifications for coastal structures.
- Historic Compliance: Liaison with historic preservation commissions to ensure restoration designs meet local zoning guidelines.
- Plan Review: Examine structural drawings and site plans to verify compliance with local permitting checklists.
- Team Liaison: Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and government officials to quickly resolve plan deficiencies.
- Document Control: Maintain precise, digital records of all permits, variances, approvals, and official correspondence.
Skills & Qualifications
- Extreme Autonomy: Proven ability to work independently, manage your own schedule, and solve problems with zero oversight.
- Resourcefulness: A knack for digging into complex regulatory documents and figuring out compliance pathways on your own.
- Plan Comprehension: Ability to accurately read and interpret technical engineering plans, architectural blueprints, and structural details.
- Coastal & Marine Familiarity: Experience with or strong knowledge of CAMA permits, V-Zone certifications, and waterfront regulations.
- Historic Code Knowledge: Understanding of the unique permitting pathways and structural variances required for landmark buildings.
- Persistent Communication: Strong verbal skills with the drive to make frequent, daily outbound calls to tracking agencies.
- Organization: Meticulous attention to detail to track multiple overlapping permit pipelines across various jurisdictions simultaneously.
