The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright) is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems in a high-precision glass manufacturing environment for medical devices. This role ensures equipment reliability, minimizes downtime, and supports operational efficiency while adhering to strict safety, quality, and regulatory standards.


Duties and Responsibilities (essential duties are italicized)

1. Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing production equipment and facility systems in a high-precision glass manufacturing environment.

2. Lead troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on precision glass manufacturing equipment.

3. Responsible for inspecting, installing, tensioning, and maintaining belt systems (timing, V-belts, flat belts, etc.) to ensure optimal performance and prevent premature wear or slippage.

4. Responsible for inspecting, lubricating, adjusting, and replacing chains and sprockets; ensuring proper alignment and tension to maintain efficient power transmission and reduce downtime.

5. Responsible for installing, aligning, inspecting, and maintaining various gearbox types; performing oil changes, seal replacements, and troubleshooting noise, vibration, or overheating issues.

6. Responsible for performing precise alignment of belts, chains, shafts, motors, pumps, and gearboxes using dial indicators or laser alignment tools to minimize vibration, wear, and energy loss.

7. Responsible for troubleshooting, disassembling, rebuilding, and reinstalling pumps; ensuring proper flow, pressure, and seal integrity for system reliability.

8. Responsible for identifying bearing types, proper installation, lubrication, and replacement; ensuring smooth operation and preventing premature bearing failure.

9. Responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining cylinders, rams, valves, and pumps; diagnosing pressure or flow issues and ensuring system integrity and safety.

10. Responsible for safely setting up and using rigging equipment such as chains, slings, and hoists; following crane hand signals and safety protocols for lifting and moving equipment or tooling.

11. Responsible for safely operating forklifts, aerial boom lifts (JLG/Genie), and scissor lifts in compliance with site safety standards to support maintenance, installation, and facility work.

12. Responsible for performing basic fabrication, repair, and modification of metal parts and tooling components; maintaining quality and safety during welding operations. Welding certification is highly desired.

13. Responsible for selecting appropriate fasteners, ensuring correct torque application, and following manufacturer specifications to maintain mechanical integrity.

14. Responsible for safely and effectively operating drills, grinders, impact tools, and saws during fabrication, assembly, and maintenance tasks.

15. Responsible for selecting and applying the correct lubricants for bearings, pumps, motors, gearboxes, fans, and couplings to ensure reliability and reduce wear.

16. Responsible for conducting routine inspections, documenting findings, and performing scheduled maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and extend component life.

17. Responsible for operating, inspecting, and maintaining conveyor systems; troubleshooting drive components, sensors, and belt tracking to ensure consistent material flow and system uptime.

18. Familiarity with reliability fundamentals such as infrared (IR), vibration analysis (VA), and oil analysis preferred but not required.

19. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections, preventive maintenance, and necessary repairs on facility systems, minimizing downtime and coordinating outside technicians when required.

20. Train and mentor new employees on proper machine and facility maintenance practices.

21. Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines.

22. Performs all other duties as required.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

High school diploma or equivalent

3–5 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience (mechanical or electrical)

OR 2 years of experience combined with relevant technical training/certifications

Minimum 5 years of experience as an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (may be reduced when supported by education, technical training, or certifications)

Basic-to-intermediate ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems

Ability to work safely, independently, and comfortably in an industrial environment

Physical ability to perform job duties, including standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and lifting up to 45 lbs, and working on the production floor ~100% of the time

Experience utilizing a computer-based work order system / CMMS

2. Strongly Preferred Qualifications

Technical/vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance

2-year Associate degree or trade school in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, or Mechanical fields

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering

(or equivalent experience – 5 years combined production and facility maintenance)

5 years of supervisory or team-lead experience over maintenance, reliability, or asset care teams

Millwright or Industrial Electrician certification

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, and/or 21 CFR regulated environments

This position is onsite at our Arlington location. This position pays: $29.69-$36.00 M-F with some weekend OT.

Salary : $30 - $36
