Position Summary
The Zamboni Ice Technician is responsible for maintaining safe, high-quality ice surfaces for hockey games, practices, figure skating, public skating, and special events. This role requires operating ice resurfacing equipment (Zamboni or similar), performing routine ice and facility maintenance, and ensuring a clean, safe environment for skaters, staff, and spectators.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate Zamboni and/or other ice resurfacing equipment before, during, and after scheduled events
- Maintain consistent ice quality by monitoring temperature, ice thickness, and surface conditions
- Perform ice repairs including edging, patching holes, shaving high spots, and flooding as needed
- Set up and remove hockey nets, dividers, protective glass, dasher boards, and event equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of the ice rink, bench areas, penalty boxes, and surrounding facility
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of ice equipment and machinery
- Monitor refrigeration systems and report any issues to supervisors or maintenance staff
- Follow all safety procedures and facility policies
- Assist with facility maintenance tasks such as snow removal, trash removal, and minor repairs
- Provide excellent customer service to coaches, officials, skaters, and the public
- Respond to on-ice emergencies or hazards promptly
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience operating a Zamboni or ice resurfacer preferred (training may be provided)
- Mechanical aptitude and basic maintenance skills
- Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Strong attention to detail and safety
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in cold environments for prolonged periods
- Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor
Work Environment
- Cold temperatures and wet conditions
- Exposure to ice resurfacing machinery and cleaning chemicals

Compensation
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience
Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 – 30.0 per week
