Responsibilities
- Safely operate tow trucks, including flatbed and vehicle recovery towing units, to transport vehicles from accident scenes, breakdowns, or parking violations.
- Securely load and unload vehicles onto tow trucks following cargo securement protocols to prevent damage during transit.
- Perform basic vehicle troubleshooting and minor mechanical repairs to assist with vehicle recovery or prepare vehicles for transport.
- Follow all safety procedures related to vehicle mechanics for truck drivers and cargo handling to ensure a safe working environment.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with clients, explaining services professionally, and addressing their concerns with empathy.
- Conduct automotive diagnostics and minor mechanical vehicle repairs as needed to facilitate efficient towing or vehicle recovery.
- Maintain accurate logs of all towing activities, vehicle conditions, and shift reports while adhering to company policies and legal regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience in automotive diagnostics, automotive repair, or mechanic work with a solid mechanical knowledge base.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with specialization in commercial truck driving and experience operating flatbed tow trucks.
- Strong understanding of cargo securement protocols and safe vehicle loading onto tow trucks.
- Skilled in basic vehicle troubleshooting, minor mechanical repairs, and car towing techniques.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, manual transmission proficiency, and adherence to traffic laws.
- Ability to manage conflict effectively while maintaining a professional attitude during stressful situations.
- Knowledge of vehicle mechanics for truck drivers combined with customer service skills to ensure positive interactions with clients.
