What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water and Sewer Technician position at Statesboro, City of (GA)?
The Water & Sewer Technician installs, repairs, and maintains water and sewer mains and lines. The Water & Sewer Technician is required to be on-call frequently. The Technician must be able to respond to on-call emergencies within 30 minutes.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs water and sewer mains and lines;
- Operates a backhoe, trencher, front-end loader, and dump truck to install water and sewer services;
- Locates and repairs leaks in water and sewer lines;
- Makes water and sewer taps;
- Maintains wells; adds chemicals and performs preventive maintenance;
- Sets water meters;
- Performs preventive maintenance procedures on assigned equipment;
- Makes and repairs utility cuts necessitated by water and sewer repairs;
- Operates a boring machine to install water and sewer pipes;
- Flushes and cleans water and sewer lines;
- Answers emergency service calls as required;
- Sets barricades, cones, and warning signs at work sites;
- High School Diploma or GED;
- One (1) year of experience in a related field;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience;
- Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License; and
- The ability to obtain a Water Distribution System Operator certification within 12 months of employment.
