Water and Sewer Technician

The Water & Sewer Technician installs, repairs, and maintains water and sewer mains and lines. The Water & Sewer Technician is required to be on-call frequently. The Technician must be able to respond to on-call emergencies within 30 minutes.

• Installs, maintains, and repairs water and sewer mains and lines;
• Operates a backhoe, trencher, front-end loader, and dump truck to install water and sewer services;
• Locates and repairs leaks in water and sewer lines;
• Makes water and sewer taps;
• Maintains wells; adds chemicals and performs preventive maintenance;
• Sets water meters;
• Performs preventive maintenance procedures on assigned equipment;
• Makes and repairs utility cuts necessitated by water and sewer repairs;
• Operates a boring machine to install water and sewer pipes;
• Flushes and cleans water and sewer lines;
• Answers emergency service calls as required;
• Sets barricades, cones, and warning signs at work sites; 

• High School Diploma or GED;
• One (1) year of experience in a related field;
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience;  
• Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License; and
• The ability to obtain a Water Distribution System Operator certification within 12 months of employment.

The selected candidate must complete the following requirements prior to starting with the the City of Statesboro:

• Background Investigation
• Pre-Employment Urinalysis
• Pre-Employment Physical
