Position Title: Cooking Club Instructor (Requires 2 staff)
Schedule
· Primary teaching days: Tuesday and Thursday
· Shift: 4:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
· Ages 8–14: 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
· Pay: 12.48/hr
· One additional planning/preparation day each week (selected by the instructor) for meal preparation, lesson planning, research, and program development.
Position Summary
The Cooking Club Instructor is responsible for planning and leading engaging, age-appropriate cooking classes for youth participants. The instructor will create a safe, fun, and educational environment while teaching basic culinary skills, nutrition, food safety, and teamwork.
Primary Responsibilities
· Plan and instruct hands-on cooking classes for youth.
· Develop weekly recipes appropriate for participants' ages and skill levels.
· Prepare ingredients and materials before each class.
· Teach proper kitchen safety, food handling, and sanitation practices.
· Supervise participants during all cooking activities.
· Maintain a clean and organized classroom and kitchen space.
· Manage inventory and communicate supply needs.
· Complete meal preparation and recipe planning during the designated planning day.
· Communicate with program staff regarding participant progress and program needs.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Experience working with children in a recreational or educational setting preferred.
· Basic cooking knowledge and kitchen safety experience.
· Strong organizational and communication skills.
· Ability to create a positive, engaging learning environment.
· Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
