Maintenance Tech – Components Department
At States Industries, our Maintenance Tech play a critical role in keeping our highly automated manufacturing equipment running safely and efficiently. This position is ideal for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, working independently, and driving continuous improvement.
This is a highly autonomous role, with approximately 90% of your time spent working independently and 10% collaborating with fellow millwrights, electricians, operators, and equipment manufacturers.
What You’ll Do
As a Maintenance Tech you will provide mechanical, electrical, and programming support for production equipment throughout our Components operation. Responsibilities include:
- Troubleshoot and repair PLC, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on automated production equipment.
- Replace bearings, sensors, switches, photo eyes, and related components.
- Weld and fabricate brackets, guards, and other machine parts.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and programming of new equipment.
- Communicate with OEMs and vendors to resolve equipment issues and manage warranty documentation.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules.
- Support machine setup and process improvements to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Train operators and team members on equipment operation and maintenance best practices.
- Follow all safety requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
- Maintain your own set of tools.
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to:
- High noise levels
- Wood dust
- Forklift and pedestrian traffic
- Moving mechanical equipment
Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection and safety glasses, is required at all times.

Qualifications:
Preferred Experience
We strongly prefer candidates with experience maintaining and troubleshooting the following equipment and systems:
- Robotics and automated material handling systems
- CNC machines and CNC programming
- Edge banders
- Moulders
- Automated conveyors and controls
- Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Welding and light fabrication
Experience in a woodworking or manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum of 3 years of Millwright or industrial maintenance experience
- Strong electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC systems
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Valid driver’s license
- Forklift experience or ability to become certified
- Strong attention to detail and urgency when responding to equipment downtime
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Stand, walk, or sit for extended periods
- Climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Use hands and arms for tool and equipment operation
Salary : $33 - $38
